Best Human/Android Love Story EVAR.

I've recently gotten into a new (well, old) fandom that's so incredibly brilliant and slashy that it's doing my brain in. It's called Total Recall 2070, and it's utterly amazing.

The two main characters are David Hume, a jaded futuristic detective, and his (absolutely adorable) android partner, Ian Farve. Together, they fight crime. And are ridiculously hot.

David Hume. Human.

Ian Farve. Android.

They wear identical outfits. I don't even.

I've been making a series of posts about this fabulous show on my journal, complete with GIFs and squeeful commentary, and you're welcome to join me or just to watch the show online, for free, on YouTube!

Here are the links to my pimptastic posts.

Episode 1: Hume saves Farve's buttocks.

Episode 2: Hume finds out that his partner is (gasp) an android!

Episode 3: This is what happens when an android discovers sexuality.

Enjoy! And make sure to join [info]totalrecall2070!

FIC: The Sword Among His Pinions (Cesare/Miguel)

Title: The Sword Among His Pinions
Fandom: Cesare, the manga.
Pairing: Cesare/Miguel.
Rating: R for non-explicit (but nonetheless filthy) sex.
Word Count: 400, give or take.
Summary: It is a strange thing, to pledge allegiance to a serpent. It is to admit a certain fondness for poison, a taste for that which burns and blackens.

Oh, how I adore Masterchef UK

Who else here watches Masterchef UK?

I am literally addicted to this programme for a multitude of reasons, most of which can be summed up by just this one word: 'microsalad'. I don't even think that 'microsalad' is hyphenated XD This show is THAT good!

I am also bowled over by the general squeeful slashiness of John and Gregg (I am such a fangirl *snort*), with all of their cream-licking and eye-rolling, and I - for one (and perhaps it really is just me, lol) - just think it's a work of genius. Who doesn't want two jumper-clad, tubby men peering suspiciously from behind some hanging utensils at contestants on the brink of a nervous breakdown, whilst rave music plays on in the background, stopping at the end of every loop to hear someone chopping an onion?

Anyway, I opened my own community at [info]masterchefslash for anything squeeful/slashy/silly to do with Masterchef UK, including fic and art, and links to all the COUNTLESS interviews where they're constantly touching one another's knees and flirting, but also news, discussion etc.

Sadly, there have never been many members, as I have never really known where to promote it :/ But as it's a new year, and a new series starting this week, I thought I'd try and recruit some new members for good times and foodie-lulz. Whadd'ya say? :D

Adrien Brody slash

As per usual, I have discovered something almost a decade after everyone else realised it: Adrien Brody is hot. When I think an actor is hot, I want to read slash fiction about his characters. But I can't find any. This means that one of two conditions must obtain: either 1) No one has written and posted to the Interwebs any Brody slash, ever, or 2) I truly suck at searching out fics.

Can anyone help? That is, does anyone know of any fanfiction involving any character played by Brody that has any slashy overtones at all? UST would be fine.

Cadfael

Someone mentioned Cadfael to me years back, and I could never find it. Then I saw a box set in the ABC shop and snapped it up straight away!

Any other fans of Cadfael? I've not finished watching it yet (rationing it out) but I loooove him.

Christmas Theme

You're in the mood to get Christmassy. Which books do you read, movies or tv shows/episodes do you watch? Bonus if they're a bit obscure. :p

Obscure Awesome Books For Christmas

I'm looking for some books for Christmas. They don't need to be new. I've already read most of Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, Neil Gaiman, Ben Elton and Jasper Fforde, but they represent the kind of thing I love. I also love things like Jeeves and Wooster and the 'Pagan' books by Catherine Jinks.
I love fantasy and sci fi (especially when not too serious but also has some intelligence to it), historical settings when it's not full on Drama/romance, and though I'm 25 I'm not opposed to reading young adult fiction.

I'm a big fan of the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies /S&S and seamonsters already.

Any ideas? thanks so much!

Teachers

Hi!
I've asked permission to post this.

I've just started a forum for teachers and educators. http://outoftheboxteaching.com/Forum (feel free to join if you're an educator of any sort. This includes tutors, camp leaders, and so on). It's for teachers who like relevant lessons, interactive/fun lessons and social justice.
One of the sections in the forum is Teachers in the Media.
I'd love to have eventually, a huge resource about fictional teachers, from books, tv shows, movies, advertisements, anything from the media.

So far, all it has is Miss Clavel from  Madeline, Miss Honey from Matilda, Mr Logan as played by David Tennant in the Red Noses  skit, and Mr James Delafield from Lark Rise to Candleford.

Whenever I notice a teacher in the media that I'm watching, I'm trying to add it to the forum.

I need help. Whenever I ask people for their favourite fictional teachers, I'm not confident enough to write about them. (or their favourite teachers they love to hate, or just... teachers in the media that are neither good or bad).

I was wondering if you'd be able to help me.

Could you give me the name of the fictional teacher that you're thinking of (it doesn't have to be hugely famous), the actor if there is one, the company if it's an ad, the author and title if it's a book,  and so on. Could you please describe the teacher? Or give some information of what you see them do in whatever they're from? What are they like as teachers or people?

I'll then post up what you've said in that section of the forum, and you'd be helping me greatly.

Thanks so much!

Books From Our Childhoods

Hi everyone! I just started a blog, http://booksfromourchildhoods.blogspot.com/ and I'm looking for volunteer writers for it. What I'm after: Reminiscences/nostalgia, snark, pictures, updates (for example, if something's being turned into a movie) opinions, reviews, recommendations, on books that you read as a child or teenager. You could have loved them, hated them, or just have owned them. I'll also be including tv shows, movies, games and toys occasionally if you'd like to write about them as well.
You'll be credited, and allowed to link back to your own website or blog, plus it'll draw some attention to great old books.
It doesn't have to be long or flashy!

Anyone interested? :)
